Jan 6th - First Years Make Festive Donation to St Vincent de Paul

Well done to all the 1st Yrs who collected around the school over the month of December to help those in need over the Christmas period. A large amount was raised (exact figures later) and was presented to a SVdP before the Christmas holidays.

SVdP is just one of a number of charities that will benefit from High School fundraising over the coming year. Next year we are hoping to raise enough funds to help Gary Neville be reintroduced into decent society after his imminent retirement from Man Utd. Please give generously.

December 31st -

Wed Nov 26th - 1st Year Trip

Last Thursday all 1st Yr pupils were taken on a fun trip by D McBride, J Gillanders, P Gillick and C McEneneany. They firstly visited the Sports Bowl in Dundalk and then went to see the new Bond movie
Quantum of Solace in the IMC. Finally a great day was rounded off with a 5-a-side scoccer tournament in the JJB.

Initial reports confirm that while there were some sore bellies from too much popcorn and Coke, there were no bones broken and it was a great day for one and all.

Tues Nov 25th - Politicians Visit CSPE Classes

This week saw Ruairi O'Hanlon, Seymour Crawford and Margaret Conlon visit CSPE classes in
the Patrician High School. They visited as part of the 'Oireachtas and U!' program
designed to fire up an interest in politics in the younger generations. The day began
with a political workshop for 2nd and 3rd Year students, facilitated by Sharon Murphy .
Then it was question time for the politicians who faced a barrage of questions ranging
from the plans to erect high voltage pylons throughout Co Monaghan to the roadworks
currently clogging up Carrickmacross. They spoke about the typical day of a full time
politician and the job satisfaction they gained from their public service. Finally they
made a concerted effort to defend the recent education cuts that will come into effect
after Christmas but, it has to be said, they did not succeed in convincing the students
of the Patrician High School that these cuts were in any way just or fair. Thanks to
teacher Linda Healy for orgainising the visit. Both CSPE classes have been invited to
attend the Oireachtas after Christmas and plan to accept the offer.

Tuesday September 2nd - Fantasy Football League Ready to Go

Patrician Redux Fantasy Football League

When:
The League will begin for all games next weekend (Sat September 6th at 11.30 a.m is the deadline for submitting your team). That gives you a full week to get going.

Price:
This year you get to enter TWO teams for €5

HOW TO ENTER

Simply log on to http://www.fantasy.premierleague.com, hit the 'Register' button and follow the links to create your team. You can make up the email address so you do not actually have to have one.

Once your team is selected hit the 'Leagues' button on the right-hand side menu. You must enter the following code
1379043-243138 in the space underneath the text ' Join a private league' to be allowed to join the Patrician High School League.

Now your team is entered in the competition. All that remains is to give me the €5 and the name of your team.

I will be the sole moderator for the league. This allows me to remove teams from the league if they do not pay the entry fee.

As team manager you can select your team name and team strip. You have €100 million to pick your dream team for the rest of the Premiership season. You can make substitutions and play the transfer market to ensure that your team retains their cutting edge.
