The Library
The school library is run by Ms Sweeney and is open three lunchtimes per week; Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
In addition each English class in the school is timetabled for one period per week in the Library. Students may borrow books from the library during these periods.
Each book has been electronically caterogized by Ms Sweeney over the last few years, and the library is divided into different areas of interest.
The school provides Ms Sweeney with a yearly budget to buy new books, and students with a particular interest may ask her to consider purchasing particular books.
The Library is an integral part of the school community and, as such, its use is encouraged as much as possible. It is also occasionally used by students who need space and a quiet place to complete projects or to film mini-plays for English class. However it should be noted that no pupils may use the library for these purposes without permission from Ms Sweeney.
Author Visits High School
Alan Gibson visited the school this week and spoke to 1st Years and 2nd Years about writing books and the publishing industry in general. A hugely entertaining public speaker, he held the boys enthralled for the duration of the talk. It was a huge coup to get a writer who has thus far sold over three quarters of a million copies of his books. Many thanks to Ms Sweeney for organizing the whole shebang.
